Straight from NYC, JS Sloane Heavyweight pomade is available exclusively here in the shop. You won’t find it anywhere else in the city. Their water based pomade will keep your hair looking neat all day without weighing it down like most other pomades do. Also is great for customers looking for a product to hold their style, yet not have that “Plastic” look that some water based pomades give. 4oz. tin = $17

The day before a holiday is always a busy one. Three barbers and 9 waiting chairs means it doesn’t take allot to make the shop packed. Today is going to be one of those days. Pictured above is Joe Sr’s father Victor. Victor put food on his family’s table as well as supported and funded the move to American from Italy by being a barber. Joe Sr (his son) has done the same for his family, as is now his son Joe Jr. Allot of people take the trade of barbering as not being a “serious” profession, as something to be looked down upon, or something that is “easy” of anyone can do. What I usually say to the above is go grab a clipper or a pair of shears and go try it ! Not as easy as a trained barber makes it look. Do yourself a favor and tell your buddy who goes to a salon or a $5 quick cut place to respect himself alittle more, get a good haircut from a licensed barber, and respect and support a tradition that is the worlds oldest legal profession.

Since we started customizing clippers their have been allot of people coming up with their “version” of a custom clipper. Ours our powdercoated, the others use reg. off the shelf at home depot paint. Ours start off as a brand new production unit from Andis, the others are factory 2nd’s and used clippers they buy on ebay. Our finishes are 10x harder than automotive grade paint, the others use everything from spraypaint to exterior house paint (i have seen it – believe me). Bottom line is you get what you pay for in life. If you want a clipper that stands out from the rest, has the best/brightest/hardest/most chemical resistant finish available you have come to the right place. Click the link below for a full description of what sets our clippers and the process that makes them happen, be informed, and stop throwing your hard earned money away on internet junk …

The shop is proud to announce that our PhASE2 line of powdercoated clippers is due out sometime in early Spring 2013 ! New colors, new finishes, same rock hard chemical resistant long lasting finish. Remember folks, spray paint or even automotive paint is NOT the same as powdercoating (google “Powdercoating” and look for yourself). Others try and offer a “custom clipper” for less than ours, but that’s exactly what it is (a cheaper clipper) where the finish wont last. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available…

Due to limited supplies and popular demand the shop is currently sold out of the new JS Sloane Lightweight pomade. A clean shop is a healthy shop. Every Monday (the one day the shop is closed) we clean the entire shop from top to bottom. From the floors to the chairs to the backbars to the tools. We do this each and every Monday to prepare for the busy week, and have been doing this practice since 1968…

All event patrons will gather at the shop on Sunday 3/24/13 to have each of their faces cleaned off of any and all facial hair by way of a hot lather straight razor shave, then a picture will be taken of the new clean face, and a entry fee of $20 to gain access into the contest will b paid. Each contestant will then have to report back to the barbershop the last Sunday of each month for one year for any sort of trimming, shaping, etc on their growing facial hair, as well as to have another official headshot taken and another $20 to go into the “kitty” so to speak. If a month is missed that said contestant will be eliminated from the competition.
At the end of the year/contest, the barbershop will host a event in which the crowd will have the chance to vote for which beard/facial hair creation they think is the best. The winner will get cash and prizes (amount and what still yet to be determined) and whatever else we come up with to celebrate this monumental achievement.
Anyone who thinks they (and their beard) have what it takes to be the 1st annual beard champ shoot me an email directly at JoesBarberShop1@aol.com and we can get ya signed up or be at the shop on Sunday 3/24/13 . The official event page can be seen @ https://www.facebook.com/events/374555569319388/

“Barbacide Blue” is a custom mix of three different blues and two different silvers to come up with a heavy metallic color that looks like nothing else. Sometimes it looks more silver, other times it looks more blue. Either way it will def. get you noticed in a sea of “stock” clippers.
Each clipper starts off as a brand new production unit from Andis® (these are not factory 2nd’s bought at a flee market). All internals are carefully removed from the case, then the empty clipper housing gets sandblasted, coated with the desired color, and cured at 500 degrees.
After the case is cooled and inspected for flaws it gets a full coat of super durable clear Powder and visits the oven for a 2nd time for a slow cure process to insure a rock solid coating that will last for years. Then all internals are re-installed back into the freshly coated case, all wires are soldered and Heat shrinked (Andis® uses electrical tape), and everything is re-calibrated back to factory specs. The fresh/custom clipper gets put back into its original box, with all factory packaging, and is sent off to its new owner.
